You ha e to remove whatever license is there before you can apply a new one. To fix, once you get the serializer, deploy the license removal tool first and then run the serializer afterwards. If someone signed in then the serializer was not set correctly and they used a personal license to sign in.

I've found some dodgy tool called FWMSO2016VL that seemingly correctly identifies what office packages I have and when they are activated or not. I even found a license remover published by Microsoft that I have run and then re-installed the serializer. I have scoured through my Library to remove any trace of office and re-installed. However, to enable Office 2016 to be correctly licensed in the multitude of deployment scenarios that we mac admins employ, pbowden & his team have created the MicrosoftOffice2016VLSerializer.pkg Running this will correctly serialise the Office 2016 suite, & should be run from the Mac that’s running the suite. I have run the serializer v2 several times. I have completely uninstalled and re-installed office.
Then it turns into a glorified viewer and I can't edit any documents. I feel like I have tried every package in this thread now, but every time I try to start office, it asks me to log on to the account with which I purchased office and then it tells me that there are no licenses associated with that account.
